1. A Strategic Expansion Reflecting Strong Commitment
On the morning of July 3, Tetra Pak inaugurated the second phase of its production facility located in the VSIP II-A Industrial Park, Vinh Tan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The plant expansion is part of a total investment of €217 million (approximately USD 234 million), with Phase 2 alone accounting for €97 million (around USD 105 million), aimed at boosting technological capabilities and competitive strength.
The expansion demonstrates Tetra Pak’s strong trust in Vietnam as an investment destination and aligns with the country’s green growth strategy, its national solid waste management plan, and climate change response initiatives toward 2050.
Tetra Pak’s Vietnam facility now boasts a production capacity of over 30 billion cartons per year, offering 15 new packaging formats.
2. Enhanced Capacity and Regional Reach
With the new phase operational, Tetra Pak’s Vietnam facility now boasts a production capacity of over 30 billion cartons per year, offering 15 new packaging formats. This enables the plant to efficiently serve major regional markets including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand.
Notably, more than 55% of production will cater to the domestic market, significantly enhancing Vietnam’s self-sufficiency in the packaging and food & beverage (F&B) industries.
3. Long-Term Vision for Asia-Pacific
Mr. Adolfo Orive, President and CEO of Tetra Pak Global, stated that the expansion not only increases production capacity but also reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the Asia-Pacific region.
“With our capabilities in innovation, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable business models, Tetra Pak is dedicated to supporting Vietnam’s development and that of the wider region,” Mr. Orive said.
He emphasized that Asia-Pacific is currently the fastest-growing market for the F&B sector, expected to reach a value of USD 900 billion by 2028. Within this context, Vietnam is playing an increasingly vital role in the global supply chain. With delivery lead times as short as 7–10 days, the Binh Duong factory enhances local companies’ access to markets and product innovation responsiveness.

4. Public-Private Partnership for a High-Tech Workforce
At the inauguration, Mr. Bùi Minh Thạnh, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, emphasized the significance of Tetra Pak’s continued investment:
“This expansion reflects the strong integration of FDI enterprises into Vietnam’s development, especially in food production and technological innovation.”
He noted that the move is a positive sign amid the upgrading of Vietnam–Sweden strategic partnerships in science, technology, and innovation.
“Beyond promoting sustainable growth, the new factory phase will create high-skilled job opportunities, equip local workers with advanced technologies, and enhance national competitiveness,” Mr. Thạnh added.
5. A Global Benchmark for Sustainable Manufacturing
Since beginning operations in 2019, the Vinh Tan facility has employed over 350 staff and is one of Vietnam’s first factories to earn LEED v4 Gold certification for green buildings.
The plant follows world-class manufacturing standards, incorporating AI-driven quality control and high-level automation. Recognized for its excellence, the facility received the 2024 JIPM Award and was named “Factory of the Year” across Tetra Pak’s global network.
Tetra Pak’s choice to continue investing in Vietnam not only confirms the country’s credibility and potential as an investment hub, but also reinforces its rising role in the regional packaging industry.
