Tetra Pak Injects Additional $100 Million into Ho Chi Minh City Operations
Tetra Pak, the Swedish food processing and packaging solutions provider known for supplying major brands such as Vinamilk, TH True Milk, and Nestlé, has announced a significant expansion of its Vietnam manufacturing operations with an additional investment of approximately $105 million.
1. Strengthening Regional Supply from Vietnam
On July 3, Tetra Pak officially inaugurated Phase 2 of its Binh Duong aseptic packaging plant, located in Vinh Tan Ward (formerly part of Binh Duong Province), now under Ho Chi Minh City’s jurisdiction.
This marks a major milestone in the company’s regional investment strategy. The total project investment has now reached €217 million (about $234 million), with the second phase alone accounting for €97 million (around $105 million).
The expansion will double the plant’s production capacity and introduce 15 new innovative packaging formats. This will allow Tetra Pak Binh Duong to better meet the growing demand from food and beverage producers in Vietnam and key regional markets, including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand.

2. A Commitment to Long-Term Growth and Innovation
Mr. Bùi Minh Thạnh, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, highlighted the strategic importance of this investment:
“Tetra Pak’s continued expansion in Vietnam strengthens the integration of FDI enterprises into national development, especially in the food sector and technological innovation.”
He added that the investment is a positive signal amid the deepening of the Vietnam–Sweden strategic partnership in science, technology, and innovation.
Since beginning operations in 2019, the Binh Duong facility has served as a strategic hub in Tetra Pak’s regional supply chain, with approximately 50% of its production serving the domestic market.

3. Green Manufacturing Meets Global Standards
The plant has earned a LEED v4 Gold certification for environmentally friendly design and adheres to Tetra Pak’s global standards of sustainable manufacturing.
